Smallville Episode Guide – Tom Welling

This Smallville episode guide notices how Tom Welling has become a well-known name among all Smallville fans alike. Many fans have often been interested and excited to see him dawn the tights and cape that are oh-so familiar to Superman. It appears as though Welling fans are going to get their wish! It is reportedly rumored by several articles that the new Justice League of America movie, set to begin shooting soon, has cast Tom Welling to play Superman.

Though several sites have reported Welling being cast, but Alfred Gough, Smallville’s executive producer, has denied those reports. The movie’s director, George Miller, has already mentioned how Superman Returns start Brandon Routh will not be playing The Man of Steel because he is waiting to do a sequel to the 2006 movie he starred in. There haven’t been too many other names thrown around, so does that make Welling the front-runner to play Superman?

It would just seem strange to have Tom Welling playing Superman on the big screen. He does a very good job as Clark Kent on Smallville, but that is during Kent’s teenage years and years growing into Superman. Brandon Routh was an excellent cast for Superman Returns because it was where the Superman: The Movie left off, and Routh very much resembles Christopher Reeve. I have an idea of the way I would love to have Smallville end: Welling dawns the tights and cape for the first time. And that’s the last time I want to see Welling as The Man of Steel. So I don’t really think I want to see Welling play Superman in the Justice League of America movie.
